The CCWC 2024 took place on 17-18 August 2024, in a virtual mode and under the theme of "Exploring Carbon Chemistry field from Nanostructures for Industrial Applications," which marked a pivotal moment for global collaboration on carbon chemistry. This conference was delivered virtually, but the topic united scientists, industry professionals, policymakers, and students worldwide to discuss carbon-based technologies and materials advancements.
All presentations were structured around a published program, and live talks were conducted on the conference platform. Presentations in this mode were pre-recorded and streamed at scheduled times, accommodating attendees in different time zones to watch at their convenience. Immediately after each presentation, the floor was open for live Q&A sessions, where attendees could ask questions and engage with the speaker in detail on all aspects of the research being presented.
Interactive Features: The virtual platform offered a variety of interactive features, including live chat, polls, and raising hands during Q&A. This ensured that the attendees could actively engage with speakers and pose questions on topics that interested them most.
The conference was entirely virtual, enabling researchers worldwide to make real-time presentations. The virtual platform allowed for real-time live sessions, interactive Q&A opportunities, and networking; therefore, every presentation was engaging and accessible to attendees.
Researchers are presented with advanced research in carbon chemistry that resonates with global trends toward sustainability and innovation. Presenters from countries such as the United States, Sweden, Germany, and Canada presented some of the most innovative and cutting-edge research in carbon-based materials and energy solutions.
Thomas Kaminski of InnoTech Alberta, Canada, covered the work on carbon fiber, where he uses asphaltene and bitumen precursors. It may be of great promise toward a much more affordable and environmentally benign pathway to produce carbon fiber materials, which is currently an important need in aerospace and automotive engineering.
Dai-Yeun Jeong, Asia Climate Change Education Centre, South Korea, presented a framework for a carbon-neutral society. His presentation was a highlight because it focused on climate change issues and how carbon-based technologies can reduce global carbon emissions.
